Perspective Of Yet Another Night Owl

The Coffee Shop

I decided to create The Coffee Shop as a place where everyone can talk about whatever floats their boat!  I figure this is a great place for thoughts, suggestions, random blurbs, book reviews and/or suggestions, and crows.  Whatever you want really. So have fun with it! :)

My latest book was Jimmy Buffett’s “A Salty Piece of Land”. For my review on that, please see my post on the home page. Most likely from here on out, I will post my book reviews here in “mini” form and then do a month-in-review on books or something similar rather than a post for each book I read.

Ooh! I have something to post. Now that the Quarter is over and everything, I finally figured out a way to get those eye sticks to stay on! Today, I did NOT moisturize my eye area. 8O Then, I applied Eye Primer. Next, I applied Vanilla Eyecicles. Finally, I applied the Violet Dawn eye stick and Amethyst liner. So far, so good. It has hardly creased–still not as crease-proof as eye shadow, but the best results I’ve seen by far. :P

That’s awesome news! I had been trying to figure out how to get them to stay on too. I figured they would be great for vacation in Jamaica as I don’t want to drag all my MK stuff! LOL

Oh, Semi-Charmed, I bet you are so busy packing and planning, it is getting soooooo close! Pink hugs, MK4ME

I read a book called “The White Witch of Rose Hall” by Herbert G. de Lisser. I am not sure it would interest everyone, as I had a particular interest in it after having visited Rose Hall Plantation while in Jamaica.

I like the new look you have given your blog. Nice! :D

Noticed that you are giving Flickr a try. I showed you some love on some pics and made you my contact. :) You’ve got some great pics!!

Comment by shadesofpink

I haven’t put too many up there yet. Still need to figure out how it all works, but I have been too busy lately (it seems like it anyway) to really sit down with it. I use photobucket too, but been it’s been a while since I have been there. Thanks for the invite to Flickr because I wouldn’t have tried it without that. :)

Comment by Semi~Charmed

No problem. I use photobucket sometimes. I think I like Flickr better. There is a Flickr Uploadr that you can download onto your computer and it makes it a lot easier and quicker to upload photos in batch form. ;)

I have a question for you now. :) You know how on wordpress, when you run the mouse over the links to our URL it shows a preview? Well, how do I make it so it just shows a text preview instead of the whole site? Still a baby with wordpress.

Comment by shadesofpink

I am not really sure, shades. Mine always just showed text. mkrules may know the answer. She is really good with this stuff. I am a newbie too. :)

Comment by Semi~Charmed

Thanks. I’ll ask her, too. :)

Comment by shadesofpink

Shades, I dunno. You can remove snap preview all together. Other than that, I think you have to have it as is.

Comment by mkrules

Thanks! I sent you an email. Somehow I missed your comment here. So, you can disregard the email. I will just live with the full preview of my blog.

Comment by shadesofpink

I figured it out. When you allow search engines, the preview is text only. :)

Comment by shadesofpink

The Snap preview, that is.

Comment by shadesofpink

There you go! Thanks for letting me know. I am hopefully going to get a post up here tonight. Had lots of things happen/go on in the last couple of weeks so there is stuff to talk about. I miss our chats, shades. I tried to check your other blog, but I guess you deleted it. I hope things are going well for you. I have been so darn busy, the blogs have slipped through the cracks. Talk to you soon. ~ SC

Hey Sunshine, just wanted to stop by and say “hi”. I know you have been super busy and until October, we don’t even have time to breath!! Just wanted to let you know I was thinking of you and added a prayer for your family.

Stay well, hey next time I do Pizza at a Meeting, I think you should deliver it to my training?? We can go out for the beer to go with the Pizza after the meeting. What you think??

Take care, MK4ME

Comment by MK4ME

MK4ME, That would be one heck of a delivery (to you from me) but would be a blast! :o ) The beer would be a “must have”. I feel like I have been so super busy, but it’s good. I wish I had more time for MK, but it has really taken a back seat to everything else. I plan to remain a PU Consultant if nothing else because I love the product.

Thanks for the extra prayers. We can use them with my Mom’s current diagnosis. Hopefully, Friday will prove even more good news in that the breast cancer is only going to require surgury. Keep your fingers crossed!

~ Semi

PS – I deleted the duplicate comment – wordpress must be lagging :o )

Hey Semi! I have missed you!

How is the new job? I am thinking of going back to my old restaurant until I am a MK director. I am really starting to hate the stress and late hours of the new one.

Comment by mkrules

Hey Semi! It’s good to see you around the blogs again. You’ve been greatly missed. Hope to see you some more!! :)

Comment by shadesofpink

Just wanted to let you know I’m thinkin’ about ya! I’m considering giving the Breast Cancer 3 Day another try. It’s a huge challenge–gotta raise $2200 just to be able to walk the walk! It should be exciting to try again. If I sign up now, I have 10 months to raise the money.
Anyway, I know your mom’s surgery is coming up soon. You’re definitely in my prayers. I am sure all will go well. :D

Comment by shadesofpink

Hey–miss you lots! You must be really busy. Hope all is well with the job, family, and your mom. Big hugs to you and Season’s Greetings!

Hello, I just googled Blossom gardens and your post showed up and i was reading about your trip. My friend actually went over and helped out this last christmas break, and has started to put together a non profit to contunie to help orphans and such. My brothers and him are headed back to spend some time with the kids and help fullfill some of there needs and try to get some locals involved with helping out. I just saw your blog and thought you might like to know that there is some other people helping out. By your posting it seemed like that place really touched you. My friend made alittle vide telling about his last trip to help get people excited i think this is the link youtube.com/watch?v=QNkXQLR98tg if you wanna write me back or anything my email is mterry01@hotmail.com

Yesterday and today were great days here for coffee, movies and popcorn. And that is just what we did. Last night we watched “21″, “What Happens In Vegas” and “Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanimo Bay”. “21″ was really good and worth renting if you haven’t seen it. “What Happens In Vegas” was a great feel-good and funny movie. As for “Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanimo Bay”, it was stupid funny and the hubby and my son loved it. After they all fell asleep, I watched “Stupid People” which really was not worth renting as far as I am concerned.

Today we have watched 2 movies, so far. “Elizabeth The Golden Age” which I loved. The hubby and son were not as enthused as I, as “Gosh, Mom, this is all about history. That’s boring.” Little did my son realize, the movie didn’t exactly follow history, and I hope he doesn’t try to write some school homework based on it entirely. LOL. We are now watching “Mama’s Boy” and it’s about as interesting to me as, well I am blogging again if that says anything. The hubby and son are watching and laughing every now and then.

My two girls have abandoned us for this weekend of movie fun. One is with a friend across the street and one is permanently glued to her cell phone. We have to occasionally remind her that she needs to eat. LOL.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend, staying dry, if possible. :o )

Comment by Krysti

Managed to stay dry! Had a MK event so it kept me out of the rain. I’m on a big growth streak with my business. It’s going well. I hope you are doing well. It appears so from your recent posts. It’s so good to see you back! :D

As far as movies, I really want to see 27 Dresses!

Comment by Shades of Pink

27 Dresses was so good, I never returned it to Blockbuster and just let them charge it to my account, so now I own it! My girls and I watch that a lot. A great “chick flick” for sleepovers. Glad you stayed dry. :o )

Comment by Krysti

Cool! STILL gotta see that movie! I really like the new look of your site. :D

Thanks. The photo at top is a night scene of the city of Vancouver, BC as seen from my sister-in-law’s deck on the mountain in West Vancouver. What you can’t see in the photo is the Lions Gate Bridge, but if you look closely, you can see the reflection of lights on the bay. It is so much prettier in person than the picture portrays. (I think it’s the camera’s fault….ok, it was probably the user.)

Oh, and I am definitely going through a blog phase again. I think I am addicted again.

Comment by Krysti

Shades, I was reading up on your blogs. How are you doing? You can email me if you want to rather than answer here. I didn’t want to post there until I chatted with you. ~K
