It’s 2 AM here and I am not surprised, but I am still nervous about the election results. My historically Republican state (Virginia) has voted Democratic for the first time in a long while. It’s only the northern few counties that made that happen (population per capita).
Regardless of how I voted, however, I am American. I was born and raised in the U.S.A. and I stand by and behind my country first and foremost. Even when I don’t agree with the majority. Why, because that is the freedom of democracy. The election and the privilege to vote is our right as citizens of this great country. The democratic process that is in place is what we, as Americans, have come to expect and accept. Even if we don’t always agree. And if you don’t expect and accept the democratic process by now, you had better learn to do so. And quickly. It is what our free society has always been. Majority rules.
Even though I am not thrilled with the outcome, I am going to take John McCain’s concession speech to heart and support President Obama as best as I morally can. I will still fight against some issues. I will support our country as it faces the challenges about to be put to us. I will support President Obama as best I can to make America what it should be. I will take seriously President Obama’s request for the entire country to work together and I will do my part to make America continue to be the best country in the world.
In the meantime, a little prayer wouldn’t hurt.
God Bless Everyone.

I voted today and thought it would be fun to see if you did too. Please take the following polls. It’s all for fun, and your opinions and comments are always welcome. Happy Polling!
Thanks for your votes. Come back and check the results. I will check results and comments later tonight and just maybe I will write a new post.

Don’t forget to go out and vote tomorrow! Voting is a right and a privilege and should not be disregarded. Regardless of who you plan to vote for, if you don’t exercise your right to do so, you have no right to complain later. Get out and vote!!!
Tomorrow I am voting for John McCain. You can agree or disagree, but that is my choice. After long and careful thought as to which candidate is better for our country, McCain/Palin is the way to go.
I do not want socialized medicine in our country. It does not work!! Without competition in health care, health care doesn’t improve. Ask anyone you know from Canada, England or any other country that uses a socialized health care system and who has lived through it before. It’s not all it’s cracked up to be.
I have made previous posts regarding the issues that matter to me, and while I do not agree with everything on the McCain side, I believe he is the better man for the job. I believe in America and I believe John McCain is the man to lead us towards a better future. Why should Obama redistribute my wealth? Money that I earn? If I want to donate (and I do a lot), I will give it to who I think is in need of it. I don’t want the government taking my money and giving it away. The damn Government spends wastefully and you know what, the money Obama plans to use is MINE. I earned it.
I received the following email and I like what it has to say, so I am passing it on to blog world. Please read on:
Subject: Change – What Change – We must keep this email circulating
My name is Joe Porter. I live in Champaign , Illinois . I’m 46 years old, a born-again Christian, a husband, a father, a small business owner, a veteran, and a homeowner. I don’t consider myself to be either conservative or liberal, and I vote for the person, not Republican or Democrat. I don’t believe there are ‘two Americas ‘ – but that every person in this country can be whom ever and what ever they want to be if they’ll just work to get there – and nowhere else on earth can they find such opportunities. I believe our government should help those who are legitimately downtrodden, and should always put the interests of America first. (more…)

I have some controversial questions that I would love to see some answers to. Some of these are more controversial than others, and I do not intend to offend anyone. My intent is to get an honest idea of other’s opinions. If you think you want to answer them, please read on. (more…)

Here is the post I promised on politics. In this post, I will touch on some of the issues that are on the table and I will give you my opinion. I will also talk a bit about each of the candidates, both Presidential and Vice Presidential. It is my plan to lay out where each person stands on the issues, hopefully without bias. I will and do state my opinions. If you didn’t already know, I am probably one of the most liberal republicans out there; very socially liberal, but I am fiscally conservative.
Click to read more about the Candidates and the Issues. Your comments and opinions are welcome. Lets try to keep it a fairly clean debate though. Thanks. (more…)

I am probably opening up a can or two of worms, but there are some things I want to say about this topic. Please read the entire post, then if you want to comment or bitch about what I said, go for it. I got very little sleep throughout the games, and although I was sad to see them end, I was also slightly happy.
First, I think that the opening ceremony was incredible. I don’t think that we will ever see an Olympic ceremony equivalent to that in many years to come. Since China spent approximately $40 Billion, I can’t see how another country could even try to compete. That is one hellacious amount of change, but the entire Olympics was one heck of a show. In Virginia, DMV means “Division of Motor Vehicles”. This is where we (residents of VA) go to get our driver’s license, license plates, register our cars, boats, etc. DMV is always busy and has been since I started driving 17 years ago. Ever since I can remember, you waited at least 20 minutes to be helped. They have closed some offices. There are now satellite offices that handle every thing BUT ID’s/Licenses to drive. But since 9/11DMV has become harder to deal with and I think MORE STUPID. It has not gotten busier, just more impossible.
Today, DMV screwed me, and didn’t even have the decency to pick up the tab! (more…)

Normally I don’t copy and post things from PT to my blog. I did send some to DUH, but you all know that already. Today I thought I would check my PT karma one last time, copy and save it here. For the scrapbook, so to speak. This is the Karma Change Log for me on PT as amended by TC/PT on or before 9/24/07. I know High Hopes had given me some, and it’s gone from the list. Click! Poof! There are a couple missing in fact. You might say: computer glitch? I say: Tracy Coenen moderation.
I also noticed in the Karma Statistic box that High Hopes is no longer listed. She had given and received a lot of karma. Now she doesn’t appear to have existed. If I recall (by memory obviously) High Hopes had been applauded more than Tracy currently has now and was ABOVE Tracy on that list. Reminds me of when Erin disappeared from the list of smited users a little while back. Click! Poof! Boy, it must be convenient to delete away someones existence so you can be on top. Oh, the beauty of caches (or posts like this) on the internet.
Here is my Karma Change Log (what is left of it), as amended by PT on or before 9/24/07, which is not completely accurate like I stated above. The Karma statistics (as of 9/24/07) are below that. Sorry if it’s hard to read but apparently the ‘copy and paste’ thing is biting me in the ass and I had to reformat it. Hhhmmmm must be karma of a mole!

The end of summer is almost here and the 2007 Summer[end] Promotion of Mary Kay is one of my favorites yet! There is a choice for guys and gals to fit most budgets. There are many gift ideas in September’s Applause Magazine and InTouch. (more…)
There are only a few days left to participate in this survey (through August 10, 2007), and I encourage all Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultants to do so. I just took the survey myself and I think the feedback MKC receives will help to improve the products that they are asking about. Some of the products they are asking for feedback on are: TimeWise Miracle Set (both skin types), MicroDermabrasion, Satin Lips, MK Signature Creme Lipsticks, MK Signature Mascara, and Foundations. I have a MySpace page and belong to quite a few pro-MK Groups on MySpace. Many of these groups try to keep the atmospheres there positive. If we wanted an anti-MK site/group, we would either create one or go visit one, right? I am a firm believer that one should not go to someone else’s sandbox and create a bunch of mud. If you want to muddy your sand box, fine, but please don’t muddy up mine. If you can do that for me, I will do the same for you. It all boils down to respect! (more…)
I finished the book A Salty Piece of Land, by Jimmy Buffett. Although it is not my usual type of book, Jimmy Buffett is a great writer and story teller. Many times I felt as if I was right there watching the story unfold. (more…)
Thought I would chat up some books here that I think are great reads.
I am currently reading Lonely Planet Jamaica by Michael Read. This book is a great tool if you are planning on visiting Jamaica, which we are. Since I am still reading this one and haven’t yet been to Jamaica, I will let you know what I think of it when I am through and have checked Jamaica out for myself. (more…)

Battle of the Blogs
If you have been reading up on Mary Kay, I am sure you have seen the numerous blogs out there, both pro and anti-MK. It’s even gone a step further and now there are blogs that are “anti anti”. There are more blogs out there, but the few listed here are the ones I am going to talk about today. Since I don’t want this blog to be a Blog war or a Pro or Anti-MK blog, this is probably the only post I will have that refers to all this.
Background: I found these when I was looking for information about MK after joining this year. I reviewed them, had lots of questions, got some answers, and made my decision to stay with MK as a consultant. I have no desire to become a team leader or director. I am not out to make millions either. I just want to have some fun with it and if I earn some extra spending money, hey that’s a bonus I won’t throw away! That said, I think someone getting involved with MK now, should know about these blogs before getting sucked into one over the other. I am going to try and be fair to all in this post, but I have formed my own opinions which I am sure will shine through. I am sure someone may not like what I have to say, but oh well. Remember, all bogs are full of opinions that some may or may not agree with. That is the great thing about opinions; we all have a right to have them. (more…)
