Well today we had our first games of the football season for the kids. We started our day off by arriving at the football field at 11:00 AM. My daughter, Bethany, was cheering for the Trojans who won their game. I think the score was 18-0, following a morning of Upper Loudoun teams winning games over Lower Loudoun teams. Bethany’s cheer squad looked really good for the little amount of practice they have actually had. Their half-time routine looked fantastic and it was obvious they had worked hard on it.
We had a quick break around 1:00 so we could change clothes and get Gatorade for my son Zachary’s game. Zach’s game started a bit late because at this point games were running about 30 minutes behind schedule. Typical by the time you get to the older boys’ games.
The Giants got off to a rough start in the first quarter against the Lower Loudoun Rams (even their 2nd string was HUGE) and the score was 7-0. During the second quarter, the Giants got on the board with a fantastic pass. “Goliath” (nickname for smallest kid on the team) had a beautiful catch and run into the end zone. The score was now 7-6. High Hopes,
Special message just for you! I will be headed your direction real soon. At one time on PT, we had chatted about meeting for coffee when I was in your area. I remember our chats late at night over there and we had some laughs. I figure a cup of coffee would bring about some more laughs, if you are still up for something like that. Just in case you forgot, I was “Seeing Clearly Now” over there. I will keep an eye out for a response. Hope to hear from you.

A good reminder about life……The Mayonnaise Jar and 2 Cups of Coffee
When things in your lives seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee.
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls . He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was. (more…)

While on our trip to Jamaica, we contacted Chef of http://www.chefsjamaicatours.5u.com/ for a day trip to Blossom Garden Orphanage. First, let me say that Chef is an extremely personable man running a tour business in Jamaica. He was kind enough to not charge us for this trip as we were there to donate much needed school supplies. This was a very generous offer as gas prices in Jamaica are equivilant to ours here. We did pay for the gas and tipped Chef as well for his generosity.
As for the orphanage, I was pleasently surprised to see that the center was located in a middle class neighborhood in Montego Bay. The house was rather small for the sheer number of children residing at the center, which at this time is 60 children and currently at capacity. (more…)

I so feel like a kid in a candy shop right now. Our house sitter is here, we packed the car and are headed off. We arrived at my mom’s house tonight, the night before our flight. It puts us close to the airport and we can sleep in a bit later in the morning. God knows that I will need it, as I am way too excited to sleep! (more…)
We arrived at the camp ground about an hour after we had planned. The dog, who has only been camping once before, was more than ready to get out of the car. We went to our space that we had reserved the weekend prior, and found a big yellow sign that read, ”KOA VIP”. The kids thought that was cool and started acting “important”. They sure can be easy to please, well, sometimes. We had pre-reserved a specific spot in case I came alone with the kids, so that silly yellow sign cost us an extra $20. We did however get a free bundle of firewood and a plastic table cloth for the picnic table for our “VIP” status. (more…)
I have accomplished quite a bit today. The laundry is washed and folded, the kids are packed for our weekend getaway, the camper is clean, stocked with food and ready to go. I made some calls about MK, stayed current on the recent blog posts, and I think I made a few new friends in cyberspace today.
Wow! But, just when I thought I had it all done, the dog runs through the house then up and over the couch with muddy paws. I now get to add an hour or so of scrubbing to the list. I am looking forward to getting away even more. (more…)
I read of a man who stood,
to speak at the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on his tombstone,
from beginning to end. (more…)
