It has been a long time since I have been on wordpress. I plan to be on a bit more as I have about 60 hours a week on my hands. “Why?” you ask, because today, I quit my JOB!! No, I did not quit Mary Kay, although that fell to the wayside some time last summer when I went back to Papa Johns. (I have managed to remain an active MK consultant with the few returning customers.) Today, I quit my General Manager position at Papa Johns (PJs). Saturday, October 20, was Homecoming here in my little town. My oldest attended the pancake breakfast with her friends. Then she was off to join the Homecoming Parade. Since she is in marching band, she had to go a bit earlier than we did. As the oldest headed to the high school, we left to attend my youngest’s football game to watch her cheer. It was the last game before playoffs and although the team did not win, they do have at least 1 playoff game to look forward to. We were then off to the parade. Have you ever hated something so much that it hurts? The pain unbearable and nothing, absolutely nothing makes it go away? Have you ever felt like you just want to rip your heart out and bury it deep beneath the earth, just so that you don’t feel the ache in it anymore? Have you ever felt so lost because the one person in your life who loved you NO MATTER WHAT, was no longer physically there to hear you when you called? Where do I begin? The last couple of weeks have been very hectic for my family, but positive. Beside taking care of my Mom, I have been busy with the kids as well. My oldest daughter is and has always been a really good kid. She is 14 (almost 15), very bright, a good student and makes good decisions. We talk a lot. We talk about things that happen in her life, the choices she faces and makes, her school work, her music, her crushes. I am proud to say that she really impresses me at times with her wisdom.
Tonight we went out to dinner, the whole family. Of course the three kids all started talking at once and telling us about their days. My youngest held up her hand and suggested we use a fork as a “talking stick” (from Yours Mine & Ours). My son instantly piped up with “No, you need to have like 16 kids to have one of those.” Meanwhile, my oldest and I share a laugh because OMG! This “talking stick” conversation did however lead to everyone taking turns to speak. We heard lots of stories through dinner. (more…)

Sometimes in life, you score a touch down. Sometimes you fumble or complete the pass for an extra yard or two. Lately, I have had a bit of it all. This is the latest going on with me.
My most recent touchdown was going back to work as a general manager for Papa Johns. I am extremely busy with work and coaching, family and life. I am constantly “on the go”, but I am totally loving it! The staff members that were at PJs when I took over are pretty cool and so far my new hires are working out.
The family is adjusting to the changes day by day. We have had a few shaky passes over the last couple of weeks, but we are completing the passes. Compromise, balance and working together are the key. (more…)

This is just a quick update for everyone. I have been really busy with cheerleading and football already. You all know that I was supposed to start my new job on Aug 27. (http://nightowlmom.wordpress.com/2007/08/04/papa-johns-mary-kay-and-the-secret-is/) Well, as of today, that date has been pushed right up to next Tuesday, the 14th. This was kind of short notice but needed to be done for lack of management in another store. So, here I thought I had a few weeks to get everything with the family in order, and now I do not.
I am going to have be very productive over the next few days. I have a surprise pizza party for our boys’ football team and their families tomorrow night after practice. Uniform pick on on Saturday morning at 10AM for the cheerleaders. I will be watching my nephews Saturday morning until picking up my sister and taking them to the beach Saturday afternoon. We will be gone until Monday night and then BAM, I am working full time again the next morning.
I am excited about it, but nervous just the same. I thought I would have a bit more time to get used to the idea. Good thing is I am starting back at my old (but nice) weekly salary, and an increase in percentage of profit for my monthly bonuses. That will be great! Now to get cracking and get the business to grow, hence increasing my bonus.
Anyway, I may be on the computer very little over the next few days, so don’t worry, I didn’t forget you guys, just am gonna be really busy. I will be trying to find new balance in my life with all that’s going on. I think I can do it. No, I know I can!!
